About This Place

Situated in the heart of South Amboy, NJ, Fernandes Steakhouse 3 is a vibrant culinary destination that masterfully blends Portuguese, Mediterranean, Spanish, and classic steakhouse traditions. This restaurant invites you to embark on a flavorful journey where rich, diverse cuisines meet generous portions and an inviting atmosphere that feels both lively and warm.

The menu at Fernandes Steakhouse 3 is impressively extensive, boasting an array of dishes designed to satisfy every palate. Seafood lovers will find delight in the Fernandes Chilled Seafood Tower, brimming with a full pound of lobster, fresh oysters, clams, rare tuna, and succulent shrimp salad—each bite delivering refreshing oceanic sweetness and texture contrasts. Equally enticing is their Paella Valenciana, a traditional Spanish rice dish packed with saffron-infused seafood, meats, and vibrant vegetables, offering an explosion of authentic flavors in every forkful.

For meat enthusiasts, the Cowboy Steak stands out as a generous and perfectly cooked centerpiece, boasting robust, smoky char with a tender, juicy interior. The steak lobster tail and prawn option expertly combines surf and turf, where juicy, buttery shellfish meet seared-to-perfection steak, embodying the best of both culinary worlds. The veal specials, such as Escalopes de Vitela à "Marsala" with mushrooms and marsala wine sauce or the delicate Escalopes de Vitela Almondina, melted with a creamy almond sauce, bring sophisticated, comforting flavors typical of Mediterranean cuisine.

Accompanying these main courses, the salads at Fernandes Steakhouse 3 showcase a fresh mix of ingredients and vibrant textures—from the tangy Greek Salad, abundant with feta and mixed olives, to the creamy Burrata Cheese Salad drizzled generously with olive oil. Even the Fernandes Salad, with fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers, asparagus, and basil, reflects the kitchen’s commitment to quality and balance.

The chef’s specials are a standout, particularly the Lulas Fritas ao molho de Manga, where crispy fried calamari meets a sweet, tropical mango sauce topped with sautéed cherry peppers, creating a playful yet refined interplay of flavors and heat. Meanwhile, the Tartare de Atum/Abacate is a refreshing, exotic dish combining fresh tuna and creamy avocado with a lively mango-ginger-soy dressing, adding a modern twist to classic Portuguese fare.

Dessert lovers are also in for a treat with house specialties like the luscious Tres Leches, rich Key Lime Pie, and decadent Tiramisu or Chocolate Mousse—each served in portions that satisfy any sweet tooth craving.

The dining atmosphere at Fernandes Steakhouse 3 is noted for its friendly and energetic vibe, perfectly suited for celebrations, family dinners, or an intimate night out. The staff’s warmth and attentiveness enhance the experience, making guests feel genuinely welcomed and cared for, even amid a bustling service flow. Some reviewers mention that while the seating can be a tad close and service occasionally slow during peak times, the overall experience remains highly rewarding—especially given the quality and portion sizes that truly justify the value.

Guests repeatedly praise the freshness of seafood, the depth of flavor in the sauces, and the perfectly seasoned and cooked meats. From the strong, fruity notes of their Red and Mango Sangria to the robust finish of the Irish Coffee, the beverage menu complements the food brilliantly, rounding out a memorable dining experience.

Special Birthday dinner. Positives: The menu is huge Friendly atmosphere Huge portions Steaks were delicious Negatives: Aside from the seating being a bit tight and the service a little slow, there are no other negatives to speak of. Yes, it is a bit pricey, but portions are large and you get what you pay for.

We had a great meal at Fernandes Steakhouse 3. From Lobster bisque which had fresh cilantro and lobster, to garlic shrimp appetizer which was not oily at all and very flavorful. For my main had the Shrimp, scallop, lobster diablo...delicious full of flavor not just spicy marinara sauce..My husband's filet was cooked perfect with the right amount of seasoning. A little pricey but you get what you pay for. Portions did not disappoint. Service was great start to finish! Worth a visit.

We stopped in on accident, just driving by and we were hungry. What an amazing find. Prices were beyond reasonable. And the food was delicious! We engaged with every employee, and they all went above and beyond with recommendations.

The food was flavorful and the service was awesome. We had people coming to our table asking if we needed anything, and I think that was really good. The appetizer (shrimp/sauce) was so good and plentiful. They give substantial amount of shrimp. The shrimp was not overcooked and it was clean properly. The sangria was strong, but not super to the extreme of not being able to enjoy. The churrasco Fernandes come with plenty of food to share with someone else, and probably a 3rd person. The pork chops were thick, big and cooked nicely. Overall, the service was excellent!

We took my Dad out for his Birthday here. My family ordered these huge plates about $120 each but literally 3 people can eat from one of those plates! Lol Our server had the group sing happy birthday to my dad & we didn’t even request it. He just over heard us saying it was his birthday & he brought a little desert my dad had ordered with a candle on top & sang with the other servers. Super sweet & memorable. Food was really good. Definitely recommend.

Fernandes does not disappoint, at least in my experience. This restaurant you pay for what you order, and the plates are served with abundance. I forgot to mention that Portuguese cuisine is on the menu. The seafood choices are great. Different types of steak and pasta dishes. The pitcher of sangria was a beautiful blend of taste. The ambiance is chill with an eat at the bar option. The staff is super attendant and are knowledgeable with the menu. Be prepared to take leftovers home cause it is plenty. If you happen to check it out, enjoy yourself.
